It’s the end of month 1 in our Agility Block. It’s also year-end. And the Holiday Season. As well as deloading time. 

 

First, I wish all of you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, or Happy Holidays in accordance with your observances. It’s been a fantastic year and I really appreciate you. 

 

This week is one of our more casual weeks of the year. The main thing we try to do during the holidays is keep the training habit alive in very mild-mannered ways. You may be traveling or have visitors. Some skiing could be on the docket. And of course many other things. Explore and apply the sessions as you see fit and keep a smile on your face. Catch up on your sleep. Reflect on the year in all areas of your life. Think about a few goals for 2025.

Workout A Breakdown: The Holiday Walkabout. The focus here is to get out in the fresh air and use natural locomotion. With your peeps. Doing so helps to oxygenate your body and brain while the human connection lends itself to hormonal upregulation.

 

Workout B Breakdown: The official aerobic conditioning session. Pick any form of movement that works for where you are and what you like. Adjust the duration to fit your schedule and energy levels.

 

Workout C Breakdown: Gym and Sport Combo. In this case, we use some basic resistance training for warmup and pattern maintenance, then transition into some sport play. You can adjust the primary as needed if you don’t have all your usual tools available. The play can be anything from shooting baskets, a little pickleball, sledding with the kiddos, etc. Use all that movement competency you’ve been developing.

 

I mentioned doing a little reflection earlier. Of course that’s all up to you as you look back on your year. But if you have a moment, think of the workouts (just a couple) you liked best during the year and post a comment in Member Submissions. I’ll use that feedback to shape our programming in 2025.
