Have you ever wished you had an easy way of evaluating your fitness level and athletic abilities? At TLA, we use the Athletic Capacity Rating System (ACRS). This is a simple and very customizable system that we employ in our community to help you to do three things.
- Have a better understanding of your own abilities, gifts, strengths, and weaknesses.
- Customize your training for optimal performance and longevity.
- Analyze your chosen sport(s) to match up your training with the specific energetic demands of these pursuits.
The ACRS is based on the 5 Capacities of Athleticism or human performance.
- Strength
- Speed
- Power
- Agility
- Endurance
We use a variety of assessments to help every client figure out whether they have a low (baseline), moderate, or high (maximum) level of proficiency in each category. We don’t use the same tests and metrics for each athlete because everyone is unique. Then we score those levels accordingly.
- Low = 1
- Moderate = 2
- High = 3
Those numeric ratings for each of the 5 categories are then summed for a total score. Our goals for every Lifetime Athlete are as follows:
- Avoid having a zero (0) score in any category. An absence of any capacity will be extremely problematic.
- Adjust training to more effectively match the athlete’s body type and genetic traits.
Once this is accomplished, we can then turn to the athlete’s sport of choice. We apply the ACRS to analyze the sports demands or capacity-specific requirements. We can further refine or fine tune the training to effect the highest potential outcome in performance.
